SBS DATELINE is a flagship current affairs programme with a 30 year history. This was a quick turnaround film; made in the wake of the massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Set in Louisville, Kentucky, one week after the tragedy. We embed at the 'sister' night club of Pulse, and with the broader LGBTQ community in the lead up to Louisville's own 'Pride' week. The film examines LGBTQ rights, gun control and religious backlash. 'Pride Under Fire' was in the official selection for 'Outfest' in West Hollywood, California, 2017.
